General Store takes place in a struggling convenience store on the eastern plains of Colorado, in the middle of a blizzard, and something is under the floorboards...
As the thing under the floor grows in strength and all attempts to pull it out fail it destroys the store. It pulls down parts of the ceiling, collapses shelves, and sprays black fluid out from the hole in the floor.
The ceiling beams were constructed with a plywood frame and layers of foam. These were then covered with muslin and a texture compound to create the grain. During the show, pieces of the ceiling were pulled down by ropes and crashed to the ground. The lightweight construction allowed for these to crash as safely as possible.
